6 skincare tips I wish I had known in my twenties :

Skincare is most important for us, If we could go back in time, there are many things we’d probably do differently, and taking better care of your skin in your twenties may be one of them once you’re in your late thirties or forties. The good news is that it is never too late to be proactive about your skin’s health and improve its appearance.

Here are six tips for skincare I wish I had known in my twenties to start my skincare routine on the right foot for the rest of my life:

  • Consume your daily dose of vitamin C.
  • Moisturizing too much can be harmful.
  • Hydration does not always come in the form of a cream.
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours.
  • Cleanse twice at night
  • Remember to exfoliate!

Tip 1: Get your daily dose of vitamin C for Skincare:

Pollution, UV rays, and other environmental factors produce free radicals, which can hasten the appearance of visible signs of skin aging. Vitamin C (particularly L-ascorbic acid) has been shown in studies to neutralize free radicals while improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.

Tip 2: Excessive moisturizing can cause more harm than good to Skincare:

Applying an extra-thick layer of moisturizer several times throughout the day will not help if you have dry skin. In fact, over-moisturizing can exacerbate dryness by inhibiting the skin’s production of naturally hydrating oils. The key to soothing and smoothing dry skin is to use an effective moisturizer formulation twice a day—and you only need a small amount with the right product.

Tip 3: Hydration does not always come in the form of a cream for Skincare:

If your skin still feels dry after properly moisturizing, turn to your other skincare steps for additional hydration. Nourishing cream-based cleansers, moisture-packed serums, and hydrating sunscreen formulations can all help to replenish skin moisture levels.

Tip 4: Reapply sunscreen every two hours for Skincare:

Every sunscreen bottle includes instructions for reapplying sunscreen every two hours. Why? Because the active ingredients that provide UV protection begin to degrade as they perform their functions. This means you’ll probably need to reapply sunscreen in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon to ensure maximum protection from the sun’s rays throughout the day. Remember that UV rays can penetrate glass (as well as clouds on a cloudy day), so screen up before you get in the car.

Tip 5: Cleanse twice at night for Skincare:

At the end of the day, it’s critical to begin your evening skincare routine with a clean slate. You want to remove all sunscreen and makeup from your skin (especially if you use a water-resistant formula) (particularly if the long-wear foundation is your go-to). This is where double cleansing comes in, and the extra step can help your skin.

In general, a foaming cleanser that aids in the removal of lingering residue from the day is the best first step. A second pass with a hydrating or calming cleanser can then ensure a deep clean while meeting your skin’s specific needs.

Tip 6: Don’t forget to exfoliate for Skincare:

The natural accumulation of dead skin cells can cause a dull complexion and clogged pores, but it’s simple to clear the way for more radiant, healthy-looking skin. In addition to occasional scrubs and masks, exfoliating cleansers, toners, serums, and moisturizers can go a long way toward smoothing and clarifying the complexion without the need for an additional skin care step.
