Procedure for Ceramic Braces – Dental Clinic

Ceramic Braces-Dental Clinic: – Everyone desires the perfect smile, and good dentistry ensures that. Wearing braces is an important decision to make, and because each individual’s dental structure is unique and varied, a personal orthodontic and dental structure analysis will determine what type of braces suit your needs and are a perfect fit for you.

  • They are not “one-size-fits-all” and are highly customized and unique. Because there are no universal braces, finding a good orthodontist is the first step toward a beautiful smile!

Types of braces:

Ceramic braces, steel braces, clear plastic braces, and self-aligning braces are some of the cosmetic braces available. Although ceramic braces are not recommended for some cases of misalignment and biting problems, they are generally effective for treating crooked teeth, overbites, and widely spaced out or crowded teeth.

What are ceramic braces?

Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces except that the brackets are tooth-colored ceramic, porcelain, or plastic to blend in more naturally with teeth. To further blend the teeth, some people use tooth-colored wires. Unless you look closely, they are virtually invisible on the teeth.

  • Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces (the most common type of braces used in the treatment), but they use clear brackets that blend in with the teeth. They can change the position of your teeth and improve your smile.

Following the installation of the ceramic braces, you will need to have regular dental check-ups to ensure that the braces are properly placed and to tighten the wires.

The Procedure for Ceramic Braces :

Before getting ceramic braces, a person will meet with an  orthodontist for a consultation. They will conduct a dental examination, review your X-rays, and develop a treatment plan.

Appointment:

  • To accomplish this, an orthodontist will use a retractor to keep the mouth open. The teeth are then treated with a solution before being rinsed.
  • They will then begin attaching brackets to each tooth with a tiny drill.
  • The orthodontist inserts the archwire through each bracket after placing brackets on each tooth.
  • The wire is retained differently depending on the type of braces a person wears. Self-ligating braces use a clip inside the bracket to hold the wire firmly in place.
  • Rubber bands are wrapped around each bracket in order to keep the wire in place.
  • As your dentist will need to make a few adjustments on a regular basis to achieve the desired results, in-between appointments are essential.

Removal

Depending on your treatment plan, you may be able to have your braces removed in a matter of months. Once your orthodontist is satisfied with your new alignment, the bonding adhesive holding your brackets to your teeth will be softly broken down and the frames will be gently removed.

Taking care of ceramic braces:

  • Proper care and hygiene must be maintained, just as with any other braces or orthodontic treatment.
  • Avoid sticky and sweet foods like chocolates; even hard and sticky foods like Chiki can stain your teeth and chip the ceramic braces.
  • Reduce your intake of sugary snacks in between meals to avoid tooth decay.
  • Remember to brush your teeth after eating anything, even a cookie or a candy, because the braces must be kept clean at all times.

The benefits of ceramic braces:

  • They are more visually appealing because they blend in with your teeth.
  • They are less painful and cause less irritation to the gums than metal braces.
  • They do not scratch or irritate the mouth like metal braces.
  • They are not as noticeable as metal braces.

Who can wear ceramic braces?

Although your dentist or orthodontist will always determine the type of braces you need after a thorough examination of your jaw structure, teeth bone, and tooth spacing, knowing the different types of braces available will help you make a better decision.

  • Anyone who requires braces to correct their teeth structure and is concerned about “how it looks” or the aesthetic aspect of it should opt for a ceramic brace set.

Misconceptions about Ceramic Brackets:

  • Several ceramic braces manufacturers advertise that their brackets will move teeth faster, resulting in a shorter treatment time. This is not true or scientific, because the time of teeth alignment is determined by the patient’s jaw structure and age, not the type of braces used.
  • There are no ‘magical’ ceramic braces, as advertised, that will suspend the laws of physics and thus “magically” align your teeth. It takes time and patience.
  • Braces are chosen based on age, bone structure, tooth spacing, aesthetic requirements, and, of course, cost!
