Smile Design is a customized dental treatment that improves the aesthetics of your smile depending on an amalgamation of cosmetic and restorative dental procedures. Smile design is not a cookie-cutter process.

Each individual’s smile design, will take into account their overall facial features, micro aesthetic features (i.e., gum line, lip shape), skin color, character traits, etc to ultimately provide a smile that person believes is natural and genuinely appears astounding.

This is not about just having white teeth; this is about proportion, balance and harmony. This is why celebrities have perfect smiles every time you see one flashed across a magazine. Today, smile designing treatment has advanced, making it’s available to the masses.)

2.Who Can Opt for Smile Designing?

Smile designing is best for anyone who has, or sees the following:

• Chipped, broken, or worn teeth

• Gaps between the teeth

• Misaligned and/or overlapping teeth

• Discoloration and/or staining of teeth

• Gummy smiles or uneven gum lines

• Asymmetrical and disproportionate teeth

• Smiles that mismatch facial proportional features

3. Types of Smile Designing Treatments

At Partha Dental, we look at smile design within the context of multiple treatments. We combine procedures based on the patient’s needs, wants, and goals. For example, commonly performed smile designing treatments include:

1. Teeth whitening – Can’t remove those stubborn stains or discoloration? Teeth whitening can brighten your smile! Both in office and take home whitening options available.

2. Veneers – Veneers are super-thin porcelain coverings that can be bonded to the front of existing teeth and primarily used to correct issues with shape, alignment and discoloration.

3. Dental crownsDental crowns are used to restore strength and appearance on damaged or worn teeth.4. Orthodontics or Invisalign – Improperly aligned teeth can improve the overall appearance of the teeth, and give increased bite function to the patient.

5. Gum contouring – This treatment reshapes the gum line and is helpful for corrections on “gummy smiles” or uneven gum lines.

6. Composite bonding – Composite bonding is permanent and immediate! This technique can repair chips, gaps, and cracks by using a tooth-colored resin.

Q1:  Does smile designing hurt?

Smile designing is a mostly non-invasive and pain free process. Treatments like veneers, whitening or contouring are hardly invasive. For more complicated procedures, local anaesthesia or sedation will be used to offer comfort.

Q2: How long does smile designing treatment take?

Treatment times will vary depending on each individual. Some smile make-overs may be completed in 2-3 visits however, more intensive treatments may take a few months – especially if orthodontics are included.

Q3: How permanent is a smile design?

Depending on an individual’s level of oral hygiene and whether they attend the Dentist regularly for teeth cleans, the results of a smile design can last for anywhere from 10 to 15 years, or longer. In general with good oral hygiene and regular Dentist visits, veneers and crowns can last between 10 to 15 years.

Q4: Can smile design help my crooked teeth?

Yes. Veneers can be used on mild to moderate misalignments while Invisalign can be used on more severe misalignments. If you have severe alignment issues, Partha Dental may recommend orthodontic treatment as part of your overall smile design.
